“Small but mighty.”
Faithe Herman may be only eleven but she has quickly risen in the ranks of Hollywood acting to become both a beloved and familiar face. Her experience as an actress has grown exponentially while staring alongside an all-star cast on This Is Us.
Not content to just dominate on television, Faithe has extended her influence to the world of film with her role in Shazam! as Darla Dudley. There is a lot said about the difficulties for kids in entertainment as they balance life, set schedules and school but Faithe is grounded and you can sense a special energy that radiates from her in person.
I found her smile endearing and genuine, however, her warm personality was her signature that will hold plenty of currency for her as she travels through her career in entertainment. Cachet Digital caught up with Faithe for a photo shoot as well as an exclusive interview.
Her bubbly personality quickly won us over. During the shoot it was clear that there was something magical and wholesome about Faithe. Her intelligence and good humor as well as her ability to shift the energy of the shoot spoke to her on set presence.
Faithe is lucky because she comes from a large supportive family and that might just be her secret weapon. Faithe’s family plays a key role in allowing her to thrive as an actress but also enjoy being a child. A good support system helps provide an anchor for kid stars as they grow and learn about themselves; as well as the world they live in while maintaining actual jobs with responsibilities and important deadlines.
She is undoubtedly a star on the rise and we absolutely cannot wait to see where Faithe Herman lands next!
Tell us a bit about your background/Tell us little about you, Faithe Herman as well as your background?
I come from a big family. I am the youngest of five and have a dog named Maverick. I love the color blue and in my free time I love to bake with my big sister, Esence.
What are you currently watching? (Favorite TV show)
I love watching Sugar Rush.
What are your upcoming projects?
As for upcoming projects my team does not have me do much during filming season of This Is Us because I go to school and film the show. Those two are my priority and it’s hard to shoot around the production schedule. Hiatus is when I try to work on anything else.
What songs or artists are on your current playlist?
Songs on my playlist are Best Part by Danielle Caesar, Fantasy by Alina Baraz/ Galimatias, and No Fear by Dej Loaf.
Tell us about your experience in Shazam!
Shazam! was an amazing experience. I really had so much fun in Toronto shooting with the cast and crew. I was there for 8 weeks. There is a part in the movie where I got to do a stunt and that was awesome.
Kids in Hollywood are playing a larger role in the conversation on entertainment, social media and the world around it. How does that impact what you do?
Since I am only 11, a lot of what I do and say is with the guidance of my parents. My mom helps manage my social media. She talks to me about what we will post, and I get to read what fans say. In regards to kids in Hollywood playing a larger role, I really want to make sure that I help to set that example when it comes to being a role model. You never know how your actions may affect just one person or several others. I want for my generation to be aware of what positive things they have to offer the world. I see so much negativity in the news. It’s sad.
How was the experience on set with the cast of This is Us? What did you do for preparation?
The experience on the set of This is Us has been fun and I’ve learned a lot. I don’t do much for preparation for set except learn my lines. We have a set schedule that we follow when we arrive.
What is a favorite part of acting that you enjoy?
I love being able to play out these different characters with other people. It’s so much fun. It’s like growing up as a little girl and you talk to dolls and pretend. Now I get to be in this cool house playing pretend with people who love to do it too.
What were some of the challenges?
Some of the challenges are taking the time out from doing things I love and having to balance those things with everything else in between.
What was your reaction when you first saw yourself on television?
My reaction when I first saw myself on television was “Oh wow, so cool!”
Have you had fans recognize you in public and how does that play out?
Yes. I do have fans recognize me in public. When they do, they are very nice and not very abrupt. They usually first talk to my mom or dad or any adult who is with me.
What was an exciting moment in your career?
An exciting moment in my career was when I received my 2017 SAG Award with my This Is Us family. It was a great moment to be recognized alongside such amazing actors by our peers.
What would be the ideal collaboration for you and who within the industry would it involve?/ Who would be a dream of yours to work with in a television show or movie?
A dream collaboration would be to work with Mr. Will Smith in a comedy. I watch his Tik Toks and they are so funny. Also, Mr. Dwayne Johnson because he just joined the DC Universe as Black Adam.
How do you balance everything?
Balancing my schedule comes with the help of my mom. She really helps in making sure my days run smooth and that I do my school work, communicate with my teachers, learn my lines, and be where I need to be.
You have participated in a number of charity projects, what was an experience that stood out for you?
It’s hard to choose, all the charities I get a chance to participate with are all meaningful in their own ways. I get a chance to meet special people doing great things for others. I hope as I get older, I get a chance to really give that time to do the same.
